Yes, but half of them are in the word 'public', Susan, so it's not that bad...really...is it?

Right now I'd like a paddle in a cool stream as it is so, so hot and humid. Horrid.
All being well we will be there for 10.30. We want to say we're coping OK and thank you all very much for you kind wishes for dear Smokey but please don't offer any hugs or that'll send us into getting upset.

Weather will be fine for a walk tomorrow - just thought I'd mention that!

And if the BBC forecasts are to be believed, it won't be blazing sunshine in the morning thank goodness, because at least half of the walk is out in the open with no tree cover.
I will probably do the short walk with Dude because he had 10 teeth out last week and is feeling a little wan in the heat. (If I'd had 10 teeth out I'd still be in bed).

Oh Dude, you poor baby! You tell Susan if you don't feel up to it and we'll sit and chat.

Sorry we were unable to make it today, Betty has not been enjoying the hot weather and we felt Wheathampstead might be a bit too much for her. She has gone from having bald patches on her rump and a thin sleek coat on her back to a rump now covered in fur, grey rather than black, and a very thick coat on her back. We think she must have her seasons confused, she probably imagines Christmas is coming next week. Hope to see you at Chipperfield next time.

Sorry Zoe and I didn't make it today as Wheathampstead is one of my favourite walks. I haven't felt brilliant in the heat and know there is very little shade on the walk so opted to stay home. As it happens I wish we'd walked as it wasn't too sunny! I hope there are some good pictures as a consolation. Hope to be at Chipperfield.

We missed both Zoe and Betty today.
We were extremely lucky and the cloud cover kept the temperature quite bearable, the 'long' walk was shortened considerably and caught up with the 'short' walk and the river was popular with some of the hounds at the end, as was the pub garden !
PS - Betty gets the wooden spoon for mentioning Christmas in July.

Yes, the cloud was very welcome but a bit more breeze would of helped as well but we enjoyed it. Lovely to chat and cuddle the various dogs in the pub garden and was so pleased with the foster dog, Moss. Finn was happy to accept attention today but the "outside" still sends him into occasional spins as he wants to hide against a fence or wall so no one can see him.

Foster boy Moss is absolutely lovely, I hope he finds a good home very soon, he seems so affectionate and he will make one lucky family very happy.
(Finn is a 'special' boy who has already found his 'special' home).

Thank you to Sue, Terry, Andy and Jan for taking us around the walk today....how lucky were we with the weather?
It was a shame not everyone could make it and you were missed today.
As Sue has said, new foster dog Moss is a lovely boy. He is handsome and very friendly, did not appear to bother about other breeds of dogs, even ones off leads running around, he will certainly make someone a great pet.

Yes, thanks to Susan & Terry for arranging a revised walk and for arranging decent weather so we weren't too hot!
We had 23 hounds today and some enjoyed a good paddle in the stream after the walk - lovely.
Nest week - Lee Valley.
